can you see me
i’m all dressed up in fairy lights
one for every hour of my grief
somewhere inside these polaroids
blankets dreams and storylines
i was way too young besides
i much prefer your company
but you don’t see me
maybe i was the fool
who looked at the open door
and thought
it could be open for anyone
can you hear me
the hum of the morning stillness
the whispers of the trees
dust in midair
the catacombs would quake
if they could hear my name
but you don’t hear me
maybe i was the one who
taught you how to love
so you could teach them
in front of me
