Goodbye

I say goodbye to my dreams

Knowing that I will never see the sight

Of something so beautiful again

Your hands

Butter melting on a summer day

Burnt where it meets the pavement

But soft where it meets the sun

I say goodbye to the darkness

Comforting in all its arrays

Distant in all its shadows

Your eyes

The tenderness of a tiger

The fierceness of a fox

But nice enough to fall into

I say goodbye to

A blanket of calla lilies

A cold winter breeze

An embrace some love and others hate

Maybe it wasn’t the truth

But the semblance of

That made me

Forget

Rather than remember

I say goodbye
